چکیده

In this paper, we present a novel approach to incorporate the activity features in measuring the influence of member activities on the social network evolution. Conventional methods analyze social networks and make predictions based on all cumulative members and activities. However, since inactive members do not contribute to the network growth, including them in analysis can lead to less accurate results. Based on this observation, we propose to focus on the active population and explore the influence of member activities. We present a model that can incorporate various activity features and predict the evolution of social activities. At the same time, an algorithm is adopted to select the most influential activity features. The experiments on two different types of social network show that the activity features can predict the evolution of the social activity accurately and our algorithm is effective to select the most influential features. In addition, we find that the most significant activity features to determine the network evolution vary among different types of social network. Community Evolution of Social Network: Feature, Algorithm and Model

Researchers have devoted themselves to exploring static features of social networks and further discovered many representative characteristics, such as power law in the degree distribution and assortative value used to differentiate social networks from nonsocial ones. However, people are not satisfied with these achievements and more and more attention has been paid on how to uncover those dyn...

Predicting Group Evolution in the Social Network

Groups – social communities are important components of entire societies, analysed by means of the social network concept. Their immanent feature is continuous evolution over time. If we know how groups in the social network has evolved we can use this information and try to predict the next step in the given group evolution. In the paper, a new aproach for group evolution prediction is present...

Influence Activation Model: A New Perspective in Social Influence Analysis and Social Network Evolution

What drives the propensity for the social network dynamics? Social influence is believed to drive both off-line and on-line human behavior, however it has not been considered as a driver of social network evolution. Our analysis suggest that, while the network structure affects the spread of influence in social networks, the network is in turn shaped by social influence activity (i.e., the proc...

Exploring the affordances of Social Network sites: an Analysis of Three Networks

Social network sites (SNS) are becoming increasingly important, both for individuals and organizations. These systems have affected social and cultural activities, work practices, and in particular the ways in which we discover, share and consume information goods. The functionality of SNS is emergent, shaped by user appropriation choices. In this paper, affordances are proposed as a way to und...
